Firefighter Injured In 3-Alarm House Fire In Central Vallejo
Vallejo (KCBS) - A firefighter was injured battling a three-alarm fire at a large house in Vallejo early Tuesday morning, according to the Vallejo Fire Department.
The fire started in the garage of a home on the 100 block of El Camino Real about 3:15 a.m. in the Vista neighborhood which is made of up of custom homes built in the 1930s and 1940s.
KCBS' Holly Quan:
The fire eventually spread from the home to nearby bushes and that's when Vallejo Battalion Chief Mike Brooks pulled a third alarm and activated crews from American Canyon, Fairfield and Cordelia.
"When we get a second alarm fire in town, it wipes us out and then we have to rely on neighboring departments to help us when we go beyond and that's exactly what we did," he said.
One firefighter was injured and treated for exhaustion and the two residents were able to get out safely because of their smoke detectors.
Although fire was put out, firefighters were keeping watch over the nearby grasslands.
