Firefighter Arrested After Motorcycle Crash Involving Fire Truck In San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS/BCN) -- A San Francisco firefighter was arrested Saturday night after a collision involving a fire truck in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured, authorities said.
Mindy Talmadge, a fire department spokeswoman, told KCBS on Sunday that the collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Fifth and Howard streets.
"There was a vehicle accident involving a San Francisco Fire Department truck resulted in a serious injury of a civilian who was driving a motorcycle," she said. "As a result of the accident, one of the firefighters on duty in San Francisco was arrested for alleged criminal conduct."
Talmadge said the motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries, but was reportedly expected to recover.
The fire department is conducting an internal investigation, and the firefighter has been placed off duty pending the outcome.
A San Francisco police spokesman said he did not have any details on the collision or arrest, and Talmadge said she did not know if the firefighter was still in custody.
The criminal case has been referred to the San Francisco District Attorney for review.
