Fire At Oakland Victorian Displaces Two Families
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Two families were displaced and a firefighter was injured during a house fire in Oakland Tuesday morning.
The one-alarm blaze was reported at 2:06 a.m. at a house at 1729 23rd Ave. and was under control by 3:15 a.m., fire Battalion Chief Melinda Drayton said.
A firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene and released, Drayton said.
About eight people were displaced and the fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage.
Drayton said the home's smoke detectors alerted the residents to the fire and they were able to evacuate quickly.
A preliminary investigation indicated it was an electrical fire, Drayton said.
