Fiorina Critical of Boxer at Convention

SAN DIEGO (KCBS) _ U.S. Senate hopeful Carly Fiorina called for Congressional term limits among other things during a speech at this weekend's  California Republican Party convention in San Diego.

During her speech, Fiorina told supporters that it's time to "retire Barbara Boxer," something that recent polls suggest could happen, as the two candidates are basically in a dead heat.

"I'm glad to be with you today at what I think is a Barbara Boxer farewell party," she said.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO also called for a greater transparency in Washington, including the online publication of all senate bills two weeks prior to a vote.

She also attacked Boxer and the Democrats for job losses.

"The only job you are fighting for is your own," said Fiorina.

San Francisco Chronicle political reporter Carla Marinucci is in San Diego covering the GOP Convention and said Fiorina has a strong message for her supporters.

"She thinks people stay too long in Congress and in the Senate. She told the Republicans here that Boxer has been in office for 34 years and that's longer than most Californians have been alive," said Marinucci. "She also said she thinks 12 years in each chamber of Congress is enough time to get something done."

Fiorina also announced her support for Proposition 20, which would add Congressional mapping to the duties of a citizen panel now working on state legislative boundaries.
