Field Poll Gauges Californians' Health Care Costs, Opinions
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Half of California voters say their health care costs increased this year. And, the same proportion describes health care as difficult to afford.
That's according to a Field Poll released Monday, the first in a series of three Field Poll reports from the 2013 TCWF-Field Health Policy Survey, conducted June 26 - July 21 amongst 1,687 registered California voters, under a grant from The California Wellness Foundation. Tuesday, results of polling on California voters' views of the Affordable Care Act were to be released. Wednesday, results of polling on a number of specific issues relating to implementation of the law in California were to be released.
According to Field Poll results released Monday, uninsured voters, low income residents, voters insured through Medi-Cal or through the individual market and those with children in their household are more likely than others to report difficulties in paying for their health care costs.

Other notable results:
An increasing majority of voters describes Medi-Cal as important; nearly six in ten describe the state's Medi-Cal program as important to themselves and their families. This includes 38% who say it's "very important" and 20% describing it as "somewhat important."
Overall, two in three feel Medi-Cal is successfully meeting its goals. There is also bipartisan agreement about Medi-Cal, with seven in ten Democrats responding in the affirmative, as well as 53% of Republicans and 62% of voters with no major party preference.
