Federal Prosecutor Praises Bonds Case Prosecutor
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A longtime federal prosecutor is drawing praise for his closing argument in the Barry Bonds perjury trial.
Legal analysts are lauding Matt Parrella for delivering a simple and effective last word to jurors as they consider the government's case. They say Parrella made big strides in containing the considerable damage Dr. Arthur Ting appeared to cause after prosecutors called him to the witness stand March 31.

Ting unexpectedly contradicted the key testimony of Bonds' former business partner Steve Hoskins. Ting denied discussing Bonds and steroids with Hoskins.
Parrella said Ting's testimony was necessary, so the jury could see a document discussing steroids he gave Hoskins to give to Bonds.
