FBI Crime Report Identifies Emeryville As 2nd Most Dangerous City In Bay Area
EMERYVILLE (KPIX) -- Emeryville, home to Pixar Animation Studios, upscale shopping and luxury condos, has earned a new reputation no town wants. According to an FBI report on crime in 2013, Oakland has the highest crime numbers in the Bay Area but its next-door-neighbor Emeryville ranks number two. Much of that crime, though, may be imported.
KPIX 5 obtained a list of every person arrested in Emeryville in the last year. Out of the 729 suspects, 67% are Oakland residents.
Emeryville police sgt. Fred Dauer says his city had no homicides last year though there were 132 violent crimes.
