Arrest Made In Deadly Shooting At Elem Indian Colony In Lake County
CLEARLAKE (CBS SF) – Authorities have arrested a man suspected of shooting four people, killing one, at the Elem Indian Colony in Lake County early Thursday morning
The suspect, identified as Ezekial Bravo Jr., 24, was arrested near the Pomo School in Clearlake.
He is in jail and charged with murder.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the suspect showed up at the residence in the colony located in Lower Lake early Thursday morning and opened fire.
A woman was killed. Another woman, a man and a six-year-old girl were injured in the shooting.
The victims were all related to the suspect's wife, who authorities believe he was really after.
Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin said, "They are family members. She came here to get away from him. There were relationship issues, she came to get away and he came here looking for her with a shotgun."
Bravo was wearing a mask around 2 a.m. when he came looking for his wife, but he never found her, deputies said.
He allegedly shot the family members and tried to kidnap the wife's mother instead.
His mother in-law managed to get away just as deputies arrived.
When Bravo saw them, he ran.
Deputies said the suspect left the scene in a vehicle, which was located several miles away in Clearlake Oaks.
Deputies found Bravo in a classroom of a nearby school about six hours later. They put it on lockdown and took him into custody without incident.
Neighbor Hason Johnson can't recall anything like this happening here before.
Johnson said residents never lock their doors, but this incident may change that.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.
Anyone with additional non-emergency information concerning this investigation is asked to contact Detective Kreutzer at (707) 262-4233.
