One person was killed and five others injured in a crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Geyserville Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.

At around 12:49 p.m., CHP issued a severe traffic alert due to the crash involving two vehicles on northbound 101 south of Canyon Rd. that was blocking all lanes. On a social media post, the CHP said officers determined that a Honda Accord was heading south on 101 "at an unsafe speed in rainy conditions."

The Honda driver lost control and crossed the grassy median and crashed into a northbound Subaru Outback, the CHP said. One man in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and two other passengers were hospitalized with major injuries.

A male driver and female passenger in the Subaru were also hospitalized with major but non-life-threatening injuries while a baby in the back seat of the Subaru appeared unharmed, the CHP said.

Northbound 101 was closed from the time of the crash until about 4:30 p.m. with traffic diverted onto Geyserville Avenue.

The CHP urged anyone with information regarding this crash can call the Santa Rosa CHP office at (707) 806-5600.
