Fatal Crash on Bay Bridge
The California Highway Patrol shut down several eastbound lanes of traffic on the Bay Bridge Wednesday morning following a fatal crash.
Units responded to the eastbound portion of the Bay Bridge at Treasure Island at around 3:50 a.m. The accident happened just before the notorious S-curve, which didn't seem to be a factor in the crash.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a four-door Volvo traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the rear of a big-rig recycling truck, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The driver of the vehicle died in the fire.
The CHP blocked all but two left lanes to traffic for several hours.
Authorities don't yet know if alcohol was involved.
