Fatal Crash Knocks Out Power On San Mateo-Hayward Bridge
HAYWARD (CBS SF) - All lanes have been reopened on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge after a fatal collision that knocked out power on a section of the eastern portion Tuesday morning, according to the CHP.
A man identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 40-year-old Albert Ramos of Daly City was driving a white 1999 Isuzu SUV east on the bridge at about 12:30 a.m. when he lost control and struck the concrete center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The SUV then hit a structure that contained high-voltage power lines, knocking out power between the accident site and the eastern toll plaza, CHP officials said.
Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.

A sig-alert was issued at 1:04 a.m. advising motorists that two lanes of the eastbound portion of the bridge would be shut down due to the accident.
