CHP Investigates Fatal Crash In Dublin
DUBLIN (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a Pleasanton man, who was killed when he crashed his truck into a fence off a road in Dublin Saturday evening.
The 55-year-old man, who has not been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau, was driving his 2004 Toyota pickup truck south on Tassajara Road approaching the Alameda County line at about 5:40 p.m., CHP officers said.
According to a witness, the truck drove off the edge of the east side of the roadway into a dirt field, swerved back onto and across Tassajara Road, and drove off the west roadway edge.
The truck crashed through a barbed wire fence before stopping in a field, according to the CHP. When officers arrived on scene, the man was unresponsive. They administered CPR until paramedics from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District arrived and transported the man to ValleyCare Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the collision because officers found an alcoholic beverage in the truck, according to the CHP.
Investigators are also considering whether unrelated medical conditions might be involved because the truck did not sustain any major or moderate impact.
