Wildfire Near Altamont Pass Fully Contained
TRACY (CBS SF) -- Firefighters fully contained a grass and brush fire near the Altamont Pass Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The fire was reported Tuesday afternoon at Interstate 580 at Chrisman Road, just south of Tracy near where I-580 and Interstate 5 come together, Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said.
Wind coupled with dry conditions was fueling the fire, he said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a car fire in the area spread to vegetation and ignited the flames.
The fire spread to 400 acres, but was 90 percent contained at 7:45 p.m. according to Cal Fire.
At one point the fire was burning under power lines and briefly threatened homes. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
