Fire Crews Make Progress On Fast-Growing Grant Fire In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS SF/CBS13) — Fire crews in Sacramento County were making some headway on a fast-moving, wind-driven grass fire burning in east Sacramento County Friday afternoon, CBS Sacramento reports.

The so-called Grant Fire started near Grant Line Road and Kiefer Boulevard in the town of Sloughhouse and prompted some evacuations, according to fire officials.

As of around 6 p.m., CBS Sacramento was reporting that crews had stopped forward progress on the fire.

As of around 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire had burned approximately 4,500 acres and was about 30% contained.

Units from Sacramento Metro Fire and Cal Fire are at the scene.

Evacuations were being ordered in the area of Glory Road, according to Sacramento Fire. Additional road closures and evacuations were anticipated, according to fire officials.

Folsom fire officials said the fire had jumped Scott Road and crews were working to prevent the blaze from jumping White Rock Road.

According to Caltrans, the fire has shut down southbound exits to East Bidwell and Prairie City Roads on Highway 50. Drivers should watch out for traffic slowdown near those exits. Highway 50 remains open, only those exits are closed at this time.
