Fan Excitement At Fever Pitch As Giants Begin Playoffs
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - Black and orange fever has hit the Bay Area. As Game 1 of the National League Division Series got underway Thursday night, San Francisco Giants fans throughout the region brimmed with excitement.
One fan posted a Craigslist ad calling for fans to wear all black Thursday to support the team. The fan calls it "The Great San Francisco Black Out."

The posting refers readers to a Facebook page with a similar message.
"Don't walk into AT&T park unless you are wearing black," the poster wrote. "If you are not going to the game...wear black to work, wear black to school, wear black walking your dog. Wear black all day.
The anticipation stretches beyond San Francisco.
In San Jose, the Vintage Wine Bar is offering $1 off of bar tabs for every Tim Lincecum strikeout. The Brittania Arms in downtown San Jose has extra staff on hand.
The Sonoma Springs Brewing Co. in Sonoma is advertising "SF Giants playoff opener against the Braves!!" with a sushi happy hour.
And bars, taverns, pubs, and restaurants around AT&T Park are beefing up staff and staying open later than usual to accommodate the crowds.
MoMo's on Second Street is accustomed to hoards of Giants fans, thanks to its location across the street from the ballpark. Still, the bar has limited the selection on its post-game menu in order to serve patrons more quickly. They'll have TVs on in the main dining room and on the back deck.
San Francisco police will be out in force to keep things in check, Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.
"We will have a high visibility of uniformed officers at the event tonight and tomorrow," she said.
Members of the department are fans, too, and they're excited about the Giants' success, Tomioka said.
"About 99 percent of them are fans," she said. "They're pretty happy when (the Giants) win."
