Family Of Special-Needs Boy Kicked By Teacher Getting $950K Settlement
BRENTWOOD (CBS/AP) -- The Brentwood family of a 5-year-old special-needs boy who was hurled to the floor and kicked by his teacher is getting $950,000.
The Brentwood Unified School District agreed to the settlement with the Concord family last week.
Loma Vista Elementary School teacher Dina Holder yanked the boy out of his seat and kicked him twice as he fell to the ground nearly three years ago.
The teacher then yelled at the boy while nearly a dozen other students watched.
Holder pleaded no contest to misdemeanor child abuse charges and was placed on probation.
The lawsuit said the teacher had previously used profanity in the classroom, shaken a child, slapped another child and strapped a child's legs to his chair with masking tape.
