Family Of Slain San Francisco Teen Struggles With Funeral Costs
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The family of a 16 year old boy who was fatally shot in San Francisco's Silver Terrace neighbored is making a plea for help because they can't afford the funeral for their only child.
Andy Zeng was shot to death on April 10th. A 15-year-old boy has been charged with his murder and 18-Year-old Jimmy Lei was charged as an accessory to murder.
KCBS' Chris Filippi Reports:
Zeng's family said Thursday that they are struggling to raise money for the boy's funeral.
"It's difficult for Chinese culture to ask for the public to contribute, but this time we ask for everyone to be involved in it," said Francis Chen who is counseling the Zeng family.
The two suspects are also accused of attempted arson for allegedly trying to dispose of the body. An attorney for the 15-year-old said that the boy thought the gun was unloaded.
But Andy Zeng's father said through an interpreter, that he believes his son's death was planned.
"I hope that justice will prevail," he said. "We want justice for my son."
Donations for the Zeng family can be made at any Cathay Bank.
