Family Of Man Killed In Berkeley Seeks Answers
BERKELEY (KCBS) -- The family of Adolfo Celedon has traveled almost 6,000 miles from Santiago, Chile to talk with Berkeley Police investigators about his murder.
It was a year ago last September when Celedon was gunned down in Berkeley while walking with his fiance. They were walking down Adeline and Emerson streets when two armed robbers approached them.
KCBS' Dave Padilla Reports:
Police have said that one of the robbers shot Celedon several times. He died on his 35th birthday.
Celedon's older sister Alejandra spoke out while at the Berkeley Police Department.
"We are very comfortable with the way the police are handling the case," she said. She noted that not being able to be with him was the hardest part of his death. "We need to find some kind of justice to be at peace."
A $20,000 reward has been offered in the case. Chilean Consul General Rolando Ortega said he was instructed by the Chilean government to assist the family and Berkeley police in whatever way he can.
The family plans to remain in the Bay Area for six months. In the meantime, they are hopeful for an arrest.
