Fake-Bearded Bank Robber Sought In Cupertino Heist

CUPERTINO (CBS SF) - Santa Clara County sheriff's detectives released several surveillance photos of a man suspected of robbing a U.S. Bank in Cupertino on Wednesday.

The robbery occurred around 10:40 a.m. at U.S. Bank located at 19630 Stevens Creek Blvd.

An unidentified man entered the bank and presented a note to the teller stating that he was armed and demanding money from the top and bottom drawers, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash that he threw inside a blue plastic bag and then left the bank. He remains at-large, according to the sheriff's office.

The teller did not report seeing any weapons.

Detectives said the suspect appears to be the same person involved in recent bank robberies in South San Francisco and Fremont, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect is an Eastern Indian or white man, standing at about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He was wearing dark glasses and a fake glued-on beard. He spoke English without an accent, according to the sheriff's office.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Quinonez or Sgt. Poso at (408) 808-4500.
