Fairfield Woman Arrested In Bizarre Bay Area Kidnapping Spree
SAUSALITO (AP) -- A Fairfield woman who allegedly told authorities the world was going to end in an earthquake has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping four people in Berkeley and San Francisco.
Authorities say 36-year-old Lark Ann Freeman was arrested near Rodeo Cove in Marin County on Friday morning. A Golden Gate recreation area park ranger allegedly spotted her U-Haul truck straddling lanes around 9:45 a.m. and gave chase when she refused to pull over.
Park spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet said authorities eventually cornered the truck. She said Freeman lured three of the captives with promises of money if they helped her move. A 74-year-old man was allegedly told he would receive cigarettes.
According to Picavet, Freeman said she wanted to be prepared for an earthquake that would strike Friday.
