Fairfield Man Arrested For DUI After Fatal Crash
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) - A man died and another was arrested after a three-car crash in Fairfield late Wednesday night, police said.
Fairfield resident Tyler Scott, 22, was driving a 2003 raised Chevy pickup truck at about 11:20 p.m. when he crashed head-on into a 2001 Nissan Xterra SUV and a 1992 Chevy Blazer on Cement Hill Road, just west Elmhurst Circle, police said.
The driver of the Nissan, 60-year-old George Smith, was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The two occupants of the Chevy Blazer suffered minor injuries.
Investigators determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to police.
Tyler was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
