Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg Says Users Should Combat Terrorism
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A Facebook executive is encouraging social media users to help combat terror in a unique way.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said users should "like" the pages of terror groups and then infiltrate them with positive messages.
"The best thing to speak against recruitment by ISIS are the voices of people who were recruited by ISIS, understand what the true experience is, have escaped and come back to tell truth," Sandberg said.
Just last week a lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court Northern District of California against Twitter by the widow of a man who died in Jordan, claiming that Twitter doesn't stop terrorist groups from using its site.

Sandberg's statement combating terrorism comes less than two weeks after White House officials met with tech company executives in Silicon Valley to discuss how terrorists are using social media to recruit attackers and what can be done to stop them.
