Facebook Agrees To Pay Menlo Park $1.5M, Campus To Expand
MENLO PARK (KCBS) -- Facebook has agreed to pay the city of Menlo Park $1.5 million over the next decade in givebacks to the community. The company and the city have come to terms regarding expansion of the Silicon Valley giant's headquarters there.
Facebook will expand from its current East Campus building at the current Bayfront Expressway-Willow Road intersection to a new facility that the company will build across the street at its new West Campus.
Part of the agreement involves Facebook making large contributions to the community.
Menlo Park City Councilwoman Catherine Carlton said Facebook has agreed to develop a community fund that supports local non-profits and people in need.
"They've indicated that they'd even like to help fill-in Menlo Park's gap and Bay Trail. We're working with them and talking about how we might also help develop an environmental education program," she said.

Carlton said as with any business, Facebook is working with the city for street maintenance limits and on traffic going in and out of both campuses.
The proposed agreement goes before the full council for approval on Tuesday.
