Exploding Ammo, Downed Lines Hamper Firefighters At Napa House Fire
NAPA (CBS SF) - A house in unincorporated Napa was destroyed by a fire Thursday night as firefighters were prevented from getting too close because of exploding ammunition and downed power lines, according the to fire department.
The one-alarm house fire on Mustang Road, east of the city of Napa, was reported at 9:41 p.m., according to dispatcher Jennifer Neal.
Arriving firefighters found the house engulfed in flames. The fire was contained at 11:19 p.m., Neal said.
One elderly man who was displaced by the fire was able to get out of the home safely. No firefighters were injured fighting the blaze, Neal said.
Firefighters responded from Napa County fire and Cal Fire, the dispatcher said.
PG&E crews were also called to the fire site after power lines went down, Neal said.
