Ex-Raiders Assistant Testifies At Assault Trial
SAN LUIS OBISPO (CBS/AP) -- A former Oakland Raiders assistant coach best known for alleging the team's head coach broke his jaw said at his own assault trial that he acted in self-defense when he hit a man with a beer bottle outside a bar.
In 2009, Randy Hanson alleged that then-coach Tom Cable broke his jaw and teeth during a fight at a hotel.
Hanson told jurors 51-year-old James Kelsey approached him at a Pismo Beach bar in August and taunted him relentlessly about Cable.
Hanson conceded he remembered little about the night because he'd had 10 glasses of wine, but said Kelsey threatened him and he felt afraid.
Kelsey testified that Hanson gave him a broken nose and concussion with a beer bottle.
