Ex-Livermore Charter School Supervisor Accused Of Sexually Abusing Student
LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A former campus supervisor and karate teacher at a charter school in Livermore has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old student several years ago, police said Monday.
Jason Quero, a 30-year-old Mountain House man, was arrested Friday on suspicion of penetration with a foreign object and oral copulation with a female student between 2010 and 2011, when she was 14, according to Livermore police.
At the time of the alleged abuse, Quero was employed as a campus supervisor at the Livermore Valley Charter School on Sonoma Avenue, police said.
Quero had worked for the charter school since 2005 but was released from his employment at the school recently after police began investigating him, police spokesman Steve Goard said.
The suspect also contracted with the school to provide karate lessons to students on campus after school hours under the name of Golden State Seibukan Academy, according to police.
Quero previously worked for the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District as a substitute campus supervisor at Arroyo Mocho School from 2003 to 2005 and for the Livermore Area Recreation and Parks District as a teacher's aide at Arroyo Mocho School's extended student services program from 2001 to 2003, police said.
Livermore police said they are encouraging parents to talk to their children if they think that they may have had contact with Quero.
They said anyone with information about the case should call them at (925) 294-7531. Those who wish to remain anonymous may do so, police said.
Goard said, "There's no indication at this time that he had any improper contact with other children but he had so much access to children that we want parents to talk to their children."
Goard said the alleged victim only came forward a week ago.
He said, "It's extremely difficult for any child to come forward" and talk to police about being the victim of sexual abuse.
Quero has been released on bail and tentatively is scheduled to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court in Pleasanton on July 9, although the District Attorney's Office hasn't formally charged him, Goard said.
