Suspected Shoplifter Stabs 3 Employees At Pittsburg Supermarket
PITTSBURG (KPIX 5) – Police in Pittsburg are searching for a man who shoplifted from a supermarket and stabbed three employees Thursday night.
According to a statement from police, officers responded to the WinCo Foods on 2400 North Park Boulevard around 8:20 p.m. and found the employees who suffered from stab wounds. Police said one of the workers was stabbed in the back, while the other two were stabbed in the forearms.
All three employees were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
Police said five employees, including a security guard, confronted the man for allegedly shoplifting razors. The suspect pulled out a knife, stabbed the guard and two other employees, before leaving the scene.
"They tried to stop him. And then he started swinging a knife. He started stabbing everybody," Winco employee Mike Dangulig, who witnessed the incident, told KPIX 5.
A surveillance photo from police shows the suspect wearing a dark colored cap and white t-shirt. The suspect also appeared to have a messenger bag.
As of late Thursday night, police are searching the immediate area for the suspect, with the help of several K-9's and a helicopter.
