Electric Car Lovers Celebrate 'National Plug-In Day' On San Francisco Waterfront
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Enthusiasts and proud owners of plug-in cars attended one of the nation's largest-ever gatherings of electric vehicle owners in San Francisco's Crissy Field Sunday.
The gathering commemorated the second annual "National Plug-in Day" at the electric vehicle charging station at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, according to organizers from electric car advocacy non-profit Plug in America.
Attendees got a chance to celebrate the "fun, clean-air benefits and cost-savings" that come with electric cars at the event, which featured an owners appreciation event and brief speeches from representatives of the National Park Service, Plug In America and the Sierra Club.
KCBS' Jeffrey Schaub Reports:
Meanwhile, similar plug-in vehicle celebrations took place in other American cities from Maui to New York, organizers said.
