Caught On Camera: Elderly Woman Mugged, Dragged By Car In Attack Outside Oakland Home
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An elderly woman was robbed and dragged outside her Oakland home in an attack caught on her neighbor's surveillance camera.
The attack happened on the 2900 block of California street just before 7:00 a.m. Saturday, according to the woman's neighbor.
The video shows two people get out of a dark, four-door car and run toward the 82-year-old woman as she is closing the rear door of an SUV.
The suspects grab her purse and flee while the woman tries to stop them. She is instead dragged by the car a few feet before falling to the ground.
The same car then returns moments later to exit the dead end street, nearly hitting the woman and her daughter who had rushed to her aid.
Her next-door neighbor caught the attack on a camera mounted on the side of his home, and is hoping his video helps find the attackers. "(They're) just people who don't think and don't have no compassion for anybody," said neighbor Brian Chavez. "I want them caught."
The victim is recovering from bruises all over her body and said she's thankful her neighbor's cameras recorded the brazen crime.
She said her attackers were a man and woman. Unfortunately, the camera was not able to get a clear shot of the car's license plate.
