Elderly Woman Hospitalized After Suitcase Robbery At SF Muni Station
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- An elderly woman was hospitalized after having her suitcase stolen at San Francisco Municipal Railway's Powell Street station on Monday afternoon, police said Tuesday.
The 78-year-old victim got into the station's elevator around 4 p.m. As the doors were closing, a female suspect reached in and grabbed her suitcase, according to police.
The victim struggled with the suspect over the suitcase but the suspect ripped it away, causing the victim to fall and hit her head on the elevator door, police said.
The thief then fled with the suitcase and had not been found as of Tuesday morning.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for a bruise to her head and pain in her left hip, police said. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
