Elderly Woman Assaulted In San Mateo Home Invasion Robbery
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) - Police in San Mateo are asking for the public's help in identifying three men who forced their way into an elderly woman's home on Tuesday afternoon and robbed and assaulted her.
The men knocked on the door of the woman's house in the 400 block of Portola Drive at about 1:15 p.m.
The woman, who is in her 80s, was home at the time but did not answer the door, police said.
The robbers then went to a rear sliding door and forced their way in, police said. When the woman confronted them, they assaulted her and forced her to sit while they stole items her home.
The men took several pieces of jewelry and fled in a light-green SUV, police said.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault.
One of the suspects is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a yellow hard hat.
A second suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build. He had a neatly-trimmed goatee, police said.
Police do not have a description of the third suspect, who was driving the SUV.
