Elderly Oakland Man Killed In Crash By Teens Fleeing Police
OAKLAND (KCBS) — Two juveniles are in custody after a vehicle collision in which a elderly man was killed in East Oakland late Monday night, police said.
At about 10:20 p.m., a ShotSpotter device alerted police of gunshots fired near the intersection of 82nd Avenue and Rudsdale Street where two 17-year-old males had allegedly fired shots at a vacant parked car.
A patrolling officer arrived at the scene and witnessed the fleeing vehicle but did not pursue it because she was not yet aware of the earlier shooting.

The teen suspects SUV ran through a red light moments later at Bancroft Avenue and Church Street striking another vehicle broadside and sending it on the sidewalk and through a traffic signal before rolling over into a palm tree.
Police said the driver—a man 74 or 75 years old—was declared deceased at the scene. His identity not yet been released, according to police.
The two teens were detained without injury, one of them after a brief foot chase, police said.
