Elderly Driver Hits Elderly Jogger In Belmont
BELMONT (CBS SF) - An 80-year-old woman jogging on El Camino Real in Belmont on Tuesday afternoon was injured when a car struck her while she was crossing the street, police said.
The woman was crossing El Camino Real at Middle Road in a crosswalk when she was hit by a 1988 Toyota driven by an 83-year-old man, according to the Belmont Police Department.
The man, who was not injured in the collision, was apparently making a right turn onto El Camino Real and did not see the jogger, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
The collision remained under investigation.
Police are reminding drivers to look in all directions when making turns, and are advising pedestrians to watch for traffic, even when crossing the street in a crosswalk on a green light.
