Economic Factor in Midterm Election
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ The upcoming midterm election has competitive races across the country with Republicans and Democrats fighting to control Congress.
KCBS' Anna Duckworth reports the economy is the main reason each side says it needs to hold the power.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says a Republican win of Congress would mean a return to the exact agenda of the Bush Administration.
"An agenda that took us to the crisis of our financial institutions going over the brink, deep recession and soaring deficits," says Pelosi.
Tom Del Beccaro, vice chair of California's Republican Party says Obama's stimulus plan has failed to deliver its promise of eight percent unemployment. He says California and the United States have to compete again for employees.

"The way to do that isn't through more stimulus spending, but policies that will attract jobs to the United States. No more blame game, they've had Congress for two years," says Del Beccaro.
Republicans need 39 seats to regain control of the House.
