UPDATE: Man Dies In East San Jose Hit-And-Run; 10th Pedestrian Killed On City's Streets This Year
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – A pedestrian has died and police are searching for a driver following a hit-and-run collision in East San Jose on Wednesday afternoon.
San Jose police said officers responded at 4:26 p.m. to a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of South White Road and Sylvan Drive.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2015-2017 white Ford F-150 or Ranger with a white work box over the entire bed, driven by an unknown driver was traveling northbound on South White Road in the No. 2 lane when it struck an adult male pedestrian.
The pedestrian was standing next to a closed driver door of a parked vehicle along the east curb of South White Road, just north of Sylvan Drive.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim's identity and notify next of kin.
The suspect vehicle and unknown driver fled the scene after the collision and have not been located or identified.

Police said the victim was the 10th pedestrian killed on the city's streets so far this year. The incident was the city's 17th traffic fatality of 2022.
The victim was the second pedestrian struck in East San Jose on Wednesday. About 12 hours earlier, another pedestrian was struck in the area of Alum Rock Avenue and an on-ramp to Interstate 680. In that collision, the victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Police have not released additional details about the earlier collision.
