East Coast Snow Storms Cause Delays At SFO
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - A number of flights have been canceled or delayed at SFO as a result of stormy weather on the East Coast. The delays and cancellations numbering several dozen or more, mostly affect flights going into and out of the cities of Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Washington, DC.
KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:
"They may only have one or two operational runways because of snow or ice on the runway, so their normal flow patterns may be impacted and the winds may be different than normal, so all of these things play into their arrival rate and departure rate," said SFO spokesman Mike McCarron.
Andre and his wife spent an extra day in Hawaii as his airline anticipated problems with the incoming East Coast weather.
"Delta changed our airline to Air Canada because of delays, they were scared we would not be able to make our connecting flight in New York City," said Andre.
No delays were reported at Oakland or Mineta San Jose.
