East Bay Woman Looking For Good Samaritan After Car Crash
MARTINEZ (CBS 5) -- An East Bay woman who was nearly killed in a car accident earlier this week said she is looking for the man in uniform who helped save her life.
On Sunday afternoon, Theresa Brill was driving along Highway 4 in Contra Costa County when her car flipped twice over a guardrail and onto oncoming traffic. Brill said a Good Samaritan who was wearing military fatigues came to her rescue. She said the man knew how to respond in emergencies.
"He turned to the front of me and talked to me and did a quick physical exam to make sure I could feel, make sure my hips weren't broken, made sure my spine was intact," Brill recalled. "He talked to me and kept me calm when I felt like I was going to pass out, when I hyperventilating and really just not sure what was going on."
She said the man had bright green eyes. Brill said she remembers that detail because he told her to look into his eyes, to keep talking and stay calm until paramedics arrived.
When she was placed into the ambulance, Brill said the man was by her side, but disappeared before she could say thank you.
"He was the person I needed when I felt like my whole world had disappeared," she said.
Ron Brill, Theresa's father, hopes he will be able to thank that serviceman, whoever he is.
"As a fellow serviceman I would like to say thank you to all the people who are serving us right now. And this man in particular, for being a comfort to my daughter at this time," he said.
"For that soldier who applied his training completely unselfishly and didn't stick around to receive any form of praise - he is deserving of everything," Theresa Brill said.
She is waiting for the police report to see if the serviceman's name was written down.
