East Bay Minister Arrested On Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting Young Girl
MARTINEZ (CBS SF) -- A Baptist minister has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14 over a period of several years, police said Friday.
Fernando Maldonado, a 32-year-old resident of Concord, was arrested on suspicion of a number of sexual offenses including unlawful intercourse with a juvenile less than 14 years old. He's being held on $725,000 bail according to police.
Maldonado has worked as a Baptist minister at churches in Pleasant Hill and Martinez, according to police.
Police took a report on Monday alleging that Maldonado had sexually assaulted the victim over a period of three years, starting when he was 29. After his arrest, police served search warrants in Concord, Martinez and Pleasant Hill.
