East Bay Multi-Car Crashes Create Big Backups
BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- East Bay drivers were delayed by 2 major crashes Friday morning. Each crash involved at least 4 vehicles.
A Sig-alert was issued at 10:26 a.m. for a crash involving a jack-knifed big-rig and four other vehicles on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Berkeley has been canceled, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.
The crash just east of Ashby Avenue, reported at 10:18 a.m., blocked three lanes on the highway for more than an hour. At 11:35 a.m. the alert was canceled.
A multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 near Livermore late Friday morning blocked one lane.
The crash on eastbound Highway 580 just west of El Charro Road was reported at 11:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
A Sig-alert was issued just after noon.
According to the CHP, as many as four cars were involved in the collision and at least one person was trapped inside their car.
