Earth, Wind & Fire Protest RNC's Use of 'September'

By Hayden Wright

(RADIO.COM) – Every party—even the Grand Old Party—needs a playlist, but bands continue to line up around the block to say "no thanks" to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's use of their music at rallies. Echoing the Rolling Stones, Adele, House of Pain, R.E.M., Queen, and others, Earth, Wind and Fire slammed Trump and the RNC for using their hit "September" during night two of the Cleveland convention.

Like Monday night's ill-conceived David Bowie cover, "September" was performed by the designated GOP convention house band. Billboard reports that the soul classic was well-received by Trump fans in the audience, because, well, who doesn't love that song? The band tweeted "Another unauthorized use (September) at the Republican Convention, against our wishes," signed Earth, Wind and Fire.

Instead of angering music icons who disagree with Trump's views, perhaps the GOP should stick to musicians who've endorsed him. New Azalea Banks music dropped last month, so there's that.
