Motorcyclist Dies In Hit-And-Run Collision With Suspected Drunk Driver In Pittsburg
PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- A 28-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday evening in Pittsburg after a hit-and-run collision involving a suspected drunk driver, according to police.
Around 7:20 p.m., officers responded to East Leland Road near Piedmont Way for a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle, police said.
There, officers found the motorcyclist unresponsive, according to police. Emergency crews attempted life saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Witnesses told officers the occupants of the vehicle that collided with the motorcycle had fled on foot. Other witnesses followed the occupants and directed officers to where they had fled, police said.
Officers located and arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Angelo Childs, according to police.
Officers arrested Childs on suspicion of driving while under the influence and hit-and-run and booked him into the Martinez Detention Facility, police said.
