Driver Sought After Golf Course Rampage Injures Santa Rosa Cyclist
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A cyclist was chased onto the cart path of a Santa Rosa golf course and run down by a motorist Thursday, and police said they are still trying to locate that driver.
The apparent road rage incident began jut after 5 p.m. when an elderly driver pulled along side the cyclist on Pythian Road in the Oakmont neighborhood and began to shout and swerve toward the bicyclist, according to a report in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
The cyclist apparently thought he could avoid the drier by pulling onto the narrow cart path of the Oakmont Golf Club. According to police, the driver pulled onto the path and chased the cyclist for another 100 yards before hitting him.
"That is direct and purposeful, it is intentional," Sgt. Andrew Romero told the Press Democrat. "This is something that is very, very shocking to all of us."
The cyclist's injuries are described as moderate and not life threatening, according to police.
