Driver Crashes Into Pole In Petaluma, Accused Of DUI
PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of driving drunk in Petaluma Friday morning was arrested after crashing into a pole, according to police.
Just after 2:20 a.m., 38-year-old Benicia resident Phillip Leroy Finley hit a traffic signal pole on the corner of East Washington and Copeland streets. An officer witnessed the crash, according to police.
The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage but Finley apparently attempted to drive away. The officer who had seen the crash stopped the car and conducted a DUI investigation, according to police.
Finley was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was taken to Sonoma County Jail, police said.
