Driver At Large After Shooting At CHP During San Francisco Chase
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man who shot at California Highway Patrol officers during a brief car chase and foot pursuit through San Francisco late Saturday night remained on the loose Monday, CHP officials and police said.
Around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, CHP officers tried to pull over a man driving a 2008 Volvo XC90 SUV who had run a red light at Bryant and Beale streets, CHP Officer Tony Tam said.
The man refused to yield and drove toward the Financial District, firing a gun at officers who were pursuing him, Tam said.
Minutes later, he struck several parked cars near the intersection of Sansome and Jackson streets, then got out of the car and fled on foot, Tam said.

The suspect, described as a black man around 25 years old, discarded some clothing as he ran and was not found despite an extensive search that included the use of a helicopter and police dogs, according to Tam.
No one was injured in the pursuit, he said.
San Francisco police were handling the investigation into the shooting, and the CHP was investigating the chase and crash.
Tam said police went to the San Francisco home of the registered owner of the Volvo, but he did not know if any information was gleaned from the visit.
San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said Monday that the suspect has not been found and the case remains under investigation.
