Drifter Trio Makes First Court Appearance To Face Marin, SF Murder Charges
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- Two men and a woman accused of separate fatal shootings on a Marin County trail and in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park earlier this month made their initial appearance in court Wednesday morning to face murder charges.
Morrison Haze Lampley, 23, Sean Michael Angold, 24, both of San Francisco, and Lila Scott Alligood, 18, of San Rafael, all declined to enter pleas during the brief hearing in Marin County Superior Court and will return to court on Oct. 26.
The three suspects are accused of robbing and killing 23-year-old Canadian tourist Audrey Carey, who was found dead Oct. 3 in Golden Gate Park, then fatally shooting therapist Steven Carter and his dog on a trail in the Loma Alta Open Space Preserve near Fairfax on Oct. 5.

Along with murder, Marin County prosecutors have charged the trio with special circumstances of lying in wait, committing multiple murders and murder during the commission of a robbery. They face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.
A 17-page complaint filed by prosecutors identifies Lampley as the shooter of both Carey and Carter. He has also been charged with animal cruelty for allegedly shooting Carter's Doberman Pinscher, which was found still leashed to Carter when he was slain. The dog remains in guarded condition at an animal hospital.
Authorities arrested the suspects in Portland, Oregon, after tracking the GPS in Carter's Volkswagen Jetta, which was stolen following the shooting, Marin County sheriff's officials said.
They also allegedly stole possessions from Carey, a resident of Quebec, Canada, including a tent, daypack, tarp, sleeping bag, airline tickets and a passport, prosecutors said.
Alligood appeared in court Wednesday morning with a shaved head while Lampley and Angold both had short-cropped hair. Lampley is being represented by the county public defender's office, while attorney James Nielsen was representing Alligood.
Angold did not yet have an attorney representing him. Chief Deputy Public Defender David Brown said following Wednesday's hearing that his office will prepare a "vigorous defense of Mr. Lampley."

Lampley is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm that was stolen in San Francisco. He was convicted on July 7 of buying or receiving a stolen vehicle in San Diego County in May.
San Francisco police said a handgun found with the trio was traced back to an auto burglary near Fisherman's Wharf reported on Oct. 1.
