San Francisco Doyle Drive Closure Could Cause Commuter Confusion
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Caltrans is urging drivers to steer clear of the Golden Gate Bridge this weekend as the Doyle Drive approach to the bridge will be closed from Friday night to Monday morning.
Crews will be demolishing the elevated approach to the span, which is part of the Presidio Parkway project to replace the old roadway.
KCBS' Doug Sovern Reports:
"Doyle Drive will be torn down forever. There's going to be an enormous amount of demolition," said Molly Graham, spokesperson for the Presidio Parkway project. "This is all a concrete structure, so you can see equipment all over the site."

Once the road reopens next week, drivers will be using a temporary bypass, as crews build the new roadway. The entire project won't be completed for another three years.
The Golden Gate Bridge will remain open this weekend, but drivers in San Francisco will only be able to access the bridge through Highway 1 only.
"We expect major delays on and around the Golden Gate Bridge," Graham said, suggesting drivers take alternate routes.
Doyle Drive will be closed at 8 p.m. on Friday and is scheduled to reopen for the morning commute at 5 a.m. on Monday April 30.
