Domestic Violence Suspect Crashes Car Into Hercules House Trying To Flee Police
HERCULES (CBS SF) -- A man sought in a domestic violence case crashed a car into a Hercules house on Thursday afternoon after trying to flee from officers, police said.
A police officer was driving west on Sycamore Avenue shortly after 4:45 p.m. Thursday when he noticed a silver Nissan driving the opposite direction. The Nissan ran a stoplight and almost hit a vehicle at the intersection with Refugio Valley Road, according to Hercules police.
The officer turned around and tried to stop the car, which he learned was wanted in connection with a felony domestic violence incident that had just occurred in Pinole, police said.
The Nissan continued east on Sycamore Avenue at about 60 mph, running several stop signs before turning right onto Lupine Road and speeding up to 80 mph, according to police.
The officer saw the vehicle run several more stop signs before losing sight of it. When he came to the 2200 block of Lupine Road, he saw the Nissan had crashed into a garage of a home and was upside down, police said.
The suspect, the lone occupant of the car, was taken to John Muir Medical Center. His name and the extent of his injuries were not immediately available Friday morning, Hercules police Detective Connie Van Putten said.
