Dog Rescued From 30-Foot Hole In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (AP) -- A dog that fell into a 30-foot hole appears to be in good condition after being rescued by firefighters.

The Sacramento Bee reports that after 13-year-old yellow Labrador was discovered stuck down the narrow hole around 4:45 p.m. Friday, a firefighter was lowered by rope to pull the dog out.

A Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District official says the hole was drilled as part of the construction of a septic system at a residence.

The firefighter who was lowered down to rescue the dog is part of the department's confined space rescue crew.
