Diesel Spills Into San Mateo Marina
SAN MATEO (BCN SF) -- Firefighters are requesting boaters to stay away from the San Mateo Marina Lagoon while crews clean up a diesel fuel spill Saturday afternoon.
The spill happened sometime Saturday on the lagoon near 1097 Seal Court, but the fuel should pose no risk of fire or threat to local drinking water, according to the San Mateo Fire Department.
People whose skin comes in contact with the lagoon should wash with soap and water to remove any contamination.
There may be a smell of diesel in the water but nearby witnesses should not be concerned, fire officials said.
Crews should finish cleaning the spill by late Saturday afternoon.
