'Marijuana Sale' Sign Leads Deputies To Sebastopol Pot Bust
SEBASTOPOL (CBS SF)- A Sebastopol man has been arrested after Sonoma County Sheriff's dropped by his house to inquire about a sign advertising "marijuana sale $2130 lb." and listing the man's address, according to a report in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
The advertisement and a Lynch Road address were posted on a rural road next to the words "Call Armando." Deputies said the man who answered the door initially denied selling marijuana, but later acknowledged that he was growing marijuana for medical dispensaries and "other people," according to the report. A search of the home revealed about 300 plants.
The man, identified as 62-year-old Armando Alvarezdevalle, did have a medical marijuana card, according to the Press Democrat, but such a large growing operation is not legal under California law. A loaded gun was also found on the property, the report said.
Alvarezdevalle was arrested on pot growing charges and for allegedly bypassing the power box to run his growing lights. He was released on bail and later called the newspaper and denied posting the sign himself.
